Hey all
Been a little bit. Its been a busy summer and I’m not sure its going to let up much, but i wanted to find a way i can stay in dialog with everyone on a more regular basis.
For the past 4+ years, i have created a 10,000 song playlist from my music archives of tracks i like or find useful in some way. I did it initially to make sense of my collection and be able to play things that i liked more quickly. It made making mixes much easier as well.
Im sure a lot of you who subscribe were influenced by blog culture as i was. I truly loved surfing around to find downloads of new music everyday. With all social media contracting, The Internet Archive under threat, postage costs on the rise and Spotify poised to take over everything, things look a lot bleaker than they have in a while. I think back to that time with a lot of fondness.
This is my little way of sharing actual music on a more regular basis so you can start building up an archive of your own perhaps.
I really believe you should own your music rather than renting it from a major corporation. Having your own personal library is very important. Things come and go online but your library is a little hedge against it.
I hope after doing this for a year, you will have some cool stuff that landed in your lap so to speak.
Keeping it really random and I’m not listing what files are in the download. That’s done for a couple of practical reasons. They are tagged so you will be able to tell what they are. I also have them tagged by my own odd category system. I will be trying to make it a very wide variety of styles. I wont be uploading music from the past 15 years however as its important to go out and pick that stuff up through conventional means (i.e. - pay for it…)
I hope you will enjoy the surprise when you download them. Of course some of these wont be to everyone’s taste but i do hope it helps you to start exploring the artists you do enjoy and picking up more of their work.

Hey, thanks for doing these! Just now catching up to the first two 12-tracks, having somehow not noticed until the most recent 2. This fits perfectly with how I like finding out about new-to-me music, and also how I program my weekly college radio show here in Cleveland (https://wruw.org/show/what-you-need/), so -- my listeners thank you as well!
Thanks for these tracks. And for discovering to me this O.rang theme with Beth Gibbons. Are you sharing more in the following days?
