Hi everyone
Have a new mix for you
This time around its focused on Scandinavian sounds from the 60’s & 70’s era. There has been a lot of interest in the past 15 years or so in this sound. I think this is principally down to the fantastic compilation “Pregnant Rainbows For Colourblind Dreamers” 4cd box set, as well as the book The Encyclopedia of Swedish Progressive Music 1967-1979. i never got around to buying the book but you can see it in full at the link
The Swedish scene took its cues from both the American Hippy scene as well as our Free Jazz scene which was especially popular there.
There was a lot of experimentation & improvisation going on and a lot of these tracks run on a bit longer so you wont have quite as many tracks as you would typically on these mixes. Its still almost a 3 hour mix
Im going to let the music do the talking but if you want to know more, please read the book above. Here also are some links to help you familiarize yourself with this scene
A Brief Aural History Of Swedish Progg
As always, this mix is free to download. Tracklistings for each of the 3 tracks below
