zikzak mix 12 - ambient techno & trance 1992 - 1997

Finally got around to making another zikzak mix for you.

I reposted my original Ambient Techno mix on twitter the other day and it gained some traction and had a fair number of people sign up for this substack

So to thank everyone, and to give you something worth subscribing for, I made this nearly 3 hour mix. It follows up the original mix (zikzak 9)and while its still the golden age sound of “ambient techno” as I like to call it, it does add some higher BPM stuff towards the end of the mix.

Even though early trance had a lot of similar attributes (gorgeous pads, melodies, ect) it seems a stretch to call it ambient techno. As I mentioned in my last post on the first mix, one of the things I really love about this era is that the styles weren’t set in stone. There was a lot of cross pollination and the different sounds and attributes were being worked out as they went. Things are much more concrete now, but back then there was a more open spirit
