zikzak mix 10 : New Horizons - American Visionary Music 1968 to 1986

Sorry for the long delay between posts. Been a hectic summer. Some of that is caused by making mixes like this.

This particular edition I had sent around by hand to people which was not the most clever idea I have had, but there you go. I wanted to put it up here finally for those of you who didn’t get it already

When I look at my musical tastes, often I notice (and others point out) that it tends to be somewhat eurocentric. This is something I really cant refute. A friend of mine asked if I was thinking of doing an American edition of my zikzak mixes. I thought about it for a moment and I realized, while the American scene doesn’t have “krautrock” moment or a style that’s simple and easy to categorize, there is absolutely no doubt that we have made massive contributions to contemporary experimental & ambient music. I did a good bit of research to make sure I was able to give everyone a good overview but at the same time I wanted to make a mix that flowed and was enjoyable to listen to. This one gravitates towards an electronic, ambient, spiritual jazz sort of sound. I am really very pleased with it and I hope you will be too. Its nearly 4 hours long btw…
