Since i have been doing these downloads, i do check to make sure any of the titles i post are not for sale on Bandcamp or similar. Here are a few i thought about posting but are available for purchase. I figured it would be good to list a few of these so you can help support some of the artists and labels.
Phillip Perkins “Drive Time”
DRIVE TIME: Fun 1004 1985 LP DRIVE TIME is a series of pieces composed as an alternative to early morning commute or "drive time" radio. The piece alternates melodic songs (often parodies of commercial tunes) with electronic washes and stereo location recordings of street bands, parades, animals, ambiances etc. etc.. The whole is assembled with segues like a live radio show. (Note that this Bandcamp version unfortunately removes all the segues that were part of the original LP.)
released January 1, 1985
Atman - Personal Forest
Atman was an eco-activist collective, that released tape-only pastoral dwelling jams in the fine Polish-Jazz tradition... Hamered dulcimer and exotically tuned 12-string guitars among basket-loads of unknown sounds, since the 70's! Personal Forest is the culmination of artistic and personal quest.
released September 17, 1994
I got the above on CD years ago and its really lovely. Very surprised it hasn’t gotten more stature
Various Artists - London Pavilion - Volume One - El 1986
I have a bit of a hard time explaining this one but it was a very individual record that i loved to play when i was in my teens. I got it when it came out and i have retained a soft spot for it ever since.
here is a good overview of the label..
Archaïa - Self Titled
For fans of Magma & Heldon
Mutant Embryo Records proudly presents an official release of this mid/late 70's French underground legend! Dark atmosphere from a different era...an electric litany followed by bass volcanic eruptions, acid guitars, haunted vocals & vintage synth sounds composing a ritual trip into the prehistoric infinity...
Remastered directly from the original Maxell reel-to-reel master tape by Michel Munier & François Suffert in Paris. Meticulously engineered by Spiros Rouchotas for a precise lacquer cut keeping the primitive mix. Unlike the late 90's cd reissue where both channels are stereo mixed, this record provides the authentic channels mix as in the original 1977 LP, playing LOUD with superb analog sound & dynamics! ~~Enjoy~~
Jurgen Karg - Elektronische Mythen
Jürgen Karg’s career in music began in the 1960s as bass playerfor German jazz legend Wolfgang Dauner. It was not until the1970s that he switched his attention to electronic music, launchinghimself wholeheartedly into exploring the genre and building up anextensive collection of synthesizers over a five year period. His efforts culminated in “Elektronische Mythen”, a mighty opusof experimental music which reveals new aspects every time it is played.
Jürgen Karg’s music is deeply serious, as vexing as a jamais vu, yet absolutelybeautiful. Elektronische Mythen is an album which fits like apuzzle piece between the first and second soundtracks for A ClockworkOrange. It's worth to check it out!
Trippy and unusual!! Thank you. Love the hammered dulcimer stuff.
Kool, thanks for the recommendations!
